Article 1 Jewellery – whether it’s vintage costume jewellery, simple beaded jewellery or that made from precious stones and metals, your jewellery needs to do exactly what you want it to do. Shout from the rooftops and go for over-enamelled brooches and brightly coloured hoped earrings, or whisper romantically using simple white gold necklace and matching bracelet – basically whatever you want to say can be done without words by using a mixture of jewellery, clothing and footwear. We’re focusing on jewellery here because it’s my favourite topic and I’m passionate about it. Whenever I’m having a great day, I want to make a statement using everything I can and want people to see me as vivacious and bubbly so I might choose to wear an eclectic mixture of peacock blue tee with emerald green pumps, I can team it with another bold statement (not too much though) like my MANHATTAN Charm Bracelet design. In the same way, I may be visiting a client – so I’ll wear a smart and plain black top and team it with Flower Fairies vintage bracelet to make a statement using just the jewellery. By teaming things together – like dark clothing and bright jewellery, or bright clothing and more subtly coloured classic jewellery. Whichever I choose, I know that I’m going to feel right for the occasion. You can read more about particular occasions below: The Interview It used to be an unsaid rule that we should go to interviews in dark suits –it once revealed ‘professionalism’ and ability to look smart. Not any more, especially not in my book! Adapt your clothing to your job role but first make sure you find out what the interview dress code is. If you’re not sure or don’t want to bother the interviewer then make sure you go smart. Don’t camp it up with too many frills and sequins – if you want to add jazz and individuality use accessories from your wardrobe to do this, try adding a lightly beaded scarf (or try adding one of my beaded bracelets or charm necklaces!). You can add bright colour to a boring suit by being selective about your jewellery and accessories. The Job You don’t have to be boring at work – even if the dress code is smart at all times you don’t have to wear black and white all the time if you don’t want to – red is a great work colour and gives your colleagues an impression that you’re not shy and retiring! There’s nothing at all wrong with black, in fact I love smart tailored black trousers, but soup it up a bit. You can try adding a heavily charmed necklace or some bright beads – green is hot at the moment, in all shades (apple green, emerald green), I like the bright Indian jewelled colours like turquoise, lime, fuchsia and brightest yellow – it screams ‘happy’ to me so why don’t you use colours to influence people around you. The Girls Evening I don’t like to go over the top and frilly skirted, maybe you do. Have a staple in your wardrobe (not one that holds paper together, that will never become a popular fashion item) – maybe it’s a favourite top that goes with everything like big skirts and boyfriend jeans. I’ve a black one that’s classy and long sleeved that can be teamed with a vest and jeans or with a more chic tulip skirt. Whatever the occasion, there’s something in your wardrobe that can be dressed up, with jewellery, or down - with the latest Converse trainers. Make a statement, be bold be beautiful and be fabulous darling! |
